Art & design installation that collects news that happens in future scenarios with the aim of exploring situations and speculating about events, observing through them the design’s capacity for intervention.
This initiative is born from the collaboration between the 27th edition of the International Symposium on Electronics Arts (ISEA) 2022 in Barcelona and the Designing For The Many subject of the IED Barcelona Master School during the 2021-2022 academic year.
Under the motto “Possibles”, ISEA 2022 Barcelona landed in Barcelona from June 10 to 16. With the support of Barcelona City Council and the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia, more than 50 activities were held with the aim of bringing art, science and technology closer to citizens. Within the framework of the festival, IED Barcelona contributed with the Digital Newspaper Library installation.
The proposal collected news in the form of future situations that occurred, serving as a basis for the design of postcards that, coming from the future to the present, announced in first person and effectively the experience of what happened.
The DIGITAL NEWSPAPER LIBRARY – POSSIBLES was opened to the public at the Ignasi Iglésias Library – Can Fabra as an open provocation to citizens to speculate about possible futures and the role of design in them.
